Baggage allowance at Iberia

Iberia has standard baggage dimensions: the sum of the three dimensions must not exceed 158 cm. All baggage must be carefully packed and labeled.

Sporting equipment (bicycles, golf clubs) must be packed in a tight bag or case. All large items of equipment are disassembled. Any oil or compressed air is vented from the unit. Bicycles are folded in half and wheels and tires are removed.

The cost of carrying one set of sports equipment is 50 euros and 60 euros/bicycle. Please note that one set of equipment must not weigh more than 32 kg.

Musical instruments are allowed to be carried in hand baggage if their weight does not exceed 10 kg. Passengers are not allowed to use them to take them out of their cases during the flight. The latter must be equipped with tight walls. Large musical instruments (e.g. amplifiers) are carried in the cargo compartment at a tariff of 150 euros/unit.

A wheelchair is allowed provided it is checked in as baggage in advance and is unplugged.

The following types of baggage are not allowed on Iberia flights:

unregistered weapons;
oxidizers or lithium-ion batteries;
strong acids or alkalis;
corrosive, reactive or radioactive substances;
explosive substances or firecrackers/fireworks;
biological agents or strong allergens;
highly odoriferous substances;
any substance prohibited by the Spanish Government;
liquefied gas or pressurized cylinders;
flammable liquids and mixtures;
alcohol above 70%.

Weapons are allowed if they are pre-registered. Up to 5 kg of ammunition may be taken with it. The weapon is placed in a closed case in the baggage compartment of the airplane. It must be disassembled and any pressurized liquids or gas removed.

Hand luggage regulations

One piece of hand baggage with dimensions 55x40x20 cm is allowed. Hand baggage must be placed above the seat or under the seat. Small suitcases with wheels are allowed in hand baggage.

In addition to the substances prohibited for carriage, in hand luggage, you may not carry stabbing, blunt objects that may be weapons, as well as any devices with alarms. Electronic gadgets must be set to airplane mode or turned off at the moment of takeoff and landing.

It is forbidden to carry liquids whose container volume exceeds 100 ml (the total volume must not be more than 1 liter). The exception applies to baby food or medicines for which there is a prescription.

Not included in carry-on luggage:

Outerwear;
Umbrellas/ canes;
Lady’s or shoulder bag;
Laptop/tablet/e-book.

Passengers with health peculiarities are allowed to carry medical equipment (walker, cane, tonometer) if a doctor’s certificate is provided. The equipment must be in close proximity to the passenger.

Animal transportation rules

Animals are allowed if booked in advance. Each pet must have a separate veterinary passport with vaccination and health certificate.

Your pet can be accommodated in the cabin (if its weight does not exceed 8 kg) or in the baggage compartment (if its weight does not exceed 32 kg). The pet must be in a carrier. Guide dogs and service dogs may be carried without a carrier in the cabin. It must be wearing a collar and muzzle, the dog must be in close proximity to its owner.

Animal carriers have special requirements:

dimensions do not exceed 158 cm in three dimensions;
the animal can freely stand or turn over during flight;
equipped with a metal door with a tight lock;
a bowl with water and food is installed and secured;
a cloth or filler on the floor to absorb moisture.
